School Location and Facilities
IH Bristol has 2 buildings, both located in the picturesque neighbourhood of Clifton, in easy walking distance of all Bristol’s main sights and attractions.
2 Queens Avenue
Our adult courses take place at 2 Queens Avenue, which we believe is the best located English language school site in Bristol:
- First of all we are located in Clifton, Bristol’s most prestigious and desirable suburb.
- Furthermore, although the building is set back on a mostly residential quiet road, 2 Queens Avenue is right in the heart of one of the eating and shopping hubs of Clifton: the nearest coffee shop is a 30 second walk away and you reach the Clifton Triangle area in about a 2 minute walk.
- Bristol university is all around us, their Beacon House Study Centre is one of our neighbours: you should feel right at home surrounded by fellow students.
- Transport connections: no fewer than eight (1,2,2a,3,4,8,72,72a) bus lines are practically on our doorstep. Clifton Down train station is about a 10 minute walk away and almost all other bus lines can be found about a 15 minute walk away on St Augustine’s Parade, also known as ‘The Centre’.
- Need to get some supplies or a sandwich: we have some of the UK’s best supplied grocery chains available: Little Waitrose is a 3 minute walk, Sainsbury a 4 minute walk and M&S Simply Food an 8 minute walk.
- Equidistant between Cabot Circus shopping centre and the Downs
The Building
If you study in Clifton you want to do it in a period building, right!? 2 Queens Avenue has those touches that remind you that you’re studying in a place that was built when queen Victoria was on the throne: geometric floor tiles in reception, high ceilings with coving and scrollwork and, of course, chandeliers.
Nevertheless, we have modernised where appropriate, with European styled bathroom facilities and a student common room with underfloor heating and sliding folding doors allowing us to open the whole of the back ‘wall’ of the student common room to the garden.
2 Queens Avenue Facilities
- The student common room and all classrooms have large touch screen interactive Smart boards
- Steelcase Node chairs in most classrooms with built-in storage space for your bags and belongings
- Free wifi
- The garden and ‘deck’: a private back garden and raised deck with bistro tables and chairs and considerable shelter from the rain or sun.
- Our Yamaha B3 upright piano, for you to play
- Table football and ping pong
- Our ‘coffee point’ room with drinks machine, snacks machine and kitchenette with microwave and fridge
